Structure Strip
The Structure Strip content type guides students through writing a structured text, section by section: each section states what it must contain and how long it should be relative to the others. The AI generates every section — title, instruction, relative weight, and color — from the teacher's prompt.
AI-generated configuration
| Setting | Description | Possible values | Default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Number of sections | How many guided-writing sections the strip contains. | Any requested amount (no cap) | 2 to 8 when no amount is requested |
| Relative weight per section | The expected proportion of text for each section, with its tolerance margin. | A weight per section reflecting the requested or expected text proportions (e.g. one section twice the weight of the others) | Balanced weights inferred from the text type |
| Section color | The color identifying each section of the strip. | One color per section | Assigned per section |
Generated content
- One section title per section.
- One instruction per section explaining what that part must contain — including guidance on set phrases and register/tone when requested.
- A relative weight with its tolerance margin and a color for every section.
Rules and behavior
- The Retry and Show solution buttons are always enabled.
- Explicitly requested proportions are reflected in the relative weights: asking for one part to be twice as long as the others makes its weight clearly greater (approximately double).
- Requested exact section amounts are generated exactly, without trimming, since sections have no cap (e.g. asking for twenty-five sections produces exactly twenty-five), each keeping its title, instruction, and weight.
- This type carries no generated images, so the Generate images toggle of the AI modal does not affect the result.
Example prompts
Without syllabus
A base strip with five guided-writing sections, each with its instruction, relative weight, and color:
I need an H5P structure strip that guides chemistry students through writing a lab report: objective, materials, procedure, results, and conclusions. Each section with an instruction on what it must contain.
Explicit relative weights, with the body carrying approximately double the weight of the other sections:
Prepare an H5P structure strip for writing a news story in the journalism workshop, using the inverted pyramid: lede, body, and closing. The body must be twice as long as the other two sections.
With syllabus
A high exact amount of sections honored in full, drawn from the sections of the uploaded document:
Make me an H5P structure strip with twenty-five sections for writing a complete piece of work that covers all the sections of the document I uploaded, from the first to the last.
