Flashcards

The Flashcards content type shows the student a set of cards, each combining an image with a question or hint, and asks them to type the correct answer. The AI generates every card — image, question, and answer — from the teacher's prompt.

AI-generated configuration

SettingDescriptionPossible valuesDefault
Number of cardsHow many cards the set contains. The exact number requested; there is no documented hard cap, so high counts (e.g. 12 or 25) are generated in full, without trimming3 to 8 cards when no exact count is requested
Randomize cardsWhether the cards are shown in random order.Enabled / disabledDisabled
Case sensitiveWhether the typed answer must match the exact letter casing.Enabled / disabledDisabled

Generated content

Each card contains:

  • A mandatory generated image illustrating the concept — a card without an image is not valid.
  • A question or textual hint, which can complement the image (for example, a hint about the characteristics of the concept shown).
  • A typed answer: the exact term the student must write.

When a syllabus or source document is uploaded, the concepts, questions, and answers are drawn strictly from it, with terms traceable to the document and no invented material.

Rules and behavior

  • Images are indispensable for this type: every card gets a generated image even when the "Generate images" toggle is off. This is by design, not a failure.
  • If any image fails to generate, the generation is retried — a card is never delivered without its image.
  • When the teacher asks for an exact number of cards, that exact number is produced; without an exact request, the set holds between 3 and 8 cards.
  • Typed answers are accepted without distinguishing uppercase from lowercase, since case sensitivity is disabled by default.

Example prompts

Without syllabus

A basic vocabulary set where each card shows a fruit and the student types its French name, with 3 to 8 cards by default:

I need some H5P flashcards for the basic French course with fruit vocabulary: the card shows the fruit and asks how to say it in French, and the student types the word: pomme, poire, fraise, raisin and citron.

A road-safety set with exactly five cards, one per named traffic sign:

Prepare some H5P flashcards on road safety education with exactly five cards of traffic signs: stop, yield, no overtaking, dangerous curve and pedestrian crossing. Each card shows the sign and the student must write its name.

With syllabus

A set of exactly five cards whose key terms come strictly from unit 2 of the uploaded document:

Prepare some H5P flashcards with exactly five cards on the key terms of unit 2 of the syllabus I uploaded. Each card shows the element and the student must write its name.

A high-count set of twenty-five cards covering every unit of the uploaded document, honored in full because the type has no documented cap:

Make me some H5P flashcards with twenty-five concepts taken from the complete document I uploaded, covering all its units: each card shows the concept and the student writes its name.
