Multimedia Choice

The Multimedia Choice content type presents a set of images and asks the student to select the correct ones. The AI generates the options, their images, and the grading configuration of the Moodle activity.

AI-generated configuration

SettingDescriptionPossible valuesDefault
Number of optionsHow many image options the choice contains. Exact quantities requested by the teacher are respected, even when they break the usual balance.2 to 204 to 8 when no quantity is requested
Correct / incorrect balanceHow many options are correct versus incorrect.Roughly half correct, and never more correct than incorrect; exact requested counts override the balanceAbout half correct
Pass percentagePercentage required to pass the content.0 to 100100
Grade to passMinimum grade of the Moodle activity, taken from the pass percentage.Number matching the requested pass percentage100
Maximum gradeMaximum grade of the Moodle activity.100 (not modified)100
Grading methodHow the activity grade is determined.Highest grade (not modified)Highest grade

Generated content

  • A set of image options, each one with:
    • Its AI-generated image.
    • Its correct or incorrect mark.
  • A statement telling the student what to select.
  • When a syllabus or source document is uploaded, the concepts shown in the options and their images are drawn strictly from it.

Rules and behavior

  • This type always generates its option images, even when the Generate images switch of the AI modal is off: its content depends entirely on the images, so seeing images with the switch off is the expected behavior.
  • Options whose image generation fails are discarded; at least 2 options with an image must remain for the activity to be delivered.
  • There are never more correct options than incorrect ones, unless the teacher requests exact quantities — exact requested counts are respected even when they break the usual half-and-half split.
  • Requests above the maximum are trimmed: asking for more than 20 options produces at most 20, without failing the generation and keeping the correct/incorrect balance rule.
  • A custom pass percentage propagates to the Grade to pass of the activity; the Maximum grade stays at 100 and the Grading method stays at Highest grade.

Example prompts

Without syllabus

A choice with exact quantities of correct and incorrect options:

Prepare an H5P multimedia choice on astronomy with exactly six images of solar system bodies: two correct ones showing gas planets and four incorrect ones with rocky planets or other bodies. The student must mark only the gas planets.

A choice with a custom pass percentage that propagates to the activity's Grade to pass:

I want an H5P multimedia choice for the mycology course where the student identifies the edible mushrooms among images of edible and poisonous mushrooms. It should be passed with 60 percent.

With syllabus

A choice anchored to the uploaded document, with a single correct option and the rest incorrect:

Make me an H5P multimedia choice on the last unit of the syllabus I uploaded: among several images, the student must choose the only one that correctly represents the central concept of that unit.
