Find the Hotspot

The Find the Hotspot content type shows a generated image where the student must click exactly one correct spot. The AI generates the background image, the single correct zone, distractor zones with their own feedback, and the message for clicks outside every zone.

Generated content

  • The background image, generated for the activity.
  • Exactly one correct zone, positioned over the element the student must locate as it actually appears in the image.
  • 2 to 4 distractor zones, each with its own feedback — different for each zone when the prompt names the elements.
  • The task instruction and the outside-zone feedback message.

Rules and behavior

  • This type generates its background image always, even with the Generate images option of the AI modal disabled: its content depends indispensably on the image, so this is behavior by design.
  • The type forces exactly one correct zone: if the prompt asks for several correct answers, the extra zones are kept as distractors with feedback instead of counting as correct, and the activity is generated without error.
  • If the correct zone cannot be placed with confidence, generation is retried rather than delivering a misplaced marker.
  • The activity is scored, and the result integrates with the Moodle gradebook.

Example prompts

Without syllabus

A camera image with one correct zone on the shutter button and explanatory feedback on the other parts:

I need an H5P find-the-hotspot activity for the photography course. Show a reflex camera and ask the student to locate the shutter button. If they click another part of the camera, explain to them what they touched.

A prompt asking for three correct answers, which the type resolves as one correct zone plus distractors:

I want an H5P find the hotspot for anatomy where the student must locate the heart, the lungs, and the liver at the same time on a silhouette of the human body, and have all three answers count as correct.

With syllabus

An image representing the whole uploaded document, with a visible instruction and the single correct zone on its most important concept:

Make me an H5P find-the-hotspot activity on the complete document I uploaded: an image representing its overall content where the student locates the most important concept of the syllabus, with a clear instruction above the image.
