URL

The URL resource (mod_url) links the course to an external web address. The AI finds a real, verified external URL that matches the prompt, writes the title and description, and configures how the link is displayed.

Generated content

  • A title and a description for the resource.
  • A real, verified external address: the system searches for the URL and checks that it responds before using it, so the link must not be broken.
  • With a syllabus, the title and description are anchored to the referenced unit and the link is thematically relevant to its topics — the concrete URL is chosen by the generator; the anchoring is thematic.

Rules and behavior

  • The Display modes are mutually exclusive. Automatic, Embed, Open, and In pop-up accept a single value per resource.
  • Display URL description is only emitted in the Automatic and Embed modes. In the other modes the setting is discarded.
  • Pop-up width and height are only emitted when the mode is In pop-up. Requesting a pop-up size together with that mode stores both measures.

Example prompts

Without syllabus

A baseline external link with all settings at their default values:

I need to link an external resource for the Web Programming course where students can consult the official HTML and CSS documentation.

An embedded resource with the description shown next to the link but not on the course page:

I want an external link for the World History course to an interactive timeline of World War II. Have it shown embedded within the course page, with the Moodle navigation around it, and have the description appear next to the resource but not on the course page, where I only want the link name to be visible.

With syllabus

A pop-up window with a custom size:

Set up an external link to a resource on cybersecurity and risk management, within the data governance topic of unit 2 of the document I uploaded. Open it in a 1200 by 800 pixel pop-up window so they do not lose the course page, and do not show the description on the course page.

Opening the site directly, with only the link name on the course page:

Create an external link to a general resource on digital culture in organizations that supports the whole syllabus I uploaded, from digital leadership to transformational leadership. Have the site open directly on click, without any intermediate Moodle page, and have only the link name shown on the course page, without the description.
