Enable notifications

Notifications are required so teachers, managers, and administrators receive alerts when new AI responses are generated and pending review.

Without this configuration, Forum AI can still generate responses, but reviewers may not be informed in time to approve, edit, or reject them.

Configure notification settings​

  1. Go to Site administration > General > Messaging > Notification settings.

  2. Locate the Forum AI notification provider in the list of notification types.

  3. Enable the notification option for the same site (on-site/web notification).

    Note: At this time, Forum AI notifications are only available inside Moodle (same-site notifications).

  • Enable same-site notifications so pending AI responses are visible immediately inside Moodle.
  • Make sure reviewers (teacher, manager, or administrator) have access to Moodle notifications and the related review pages.
  • Keep roles and permissions aligned with your review workflow.

Verification​

After enabling notifications:

  1. Create a test discussion in a forum where Forum AI is enabled.
  2. Wait for AI processing to run.
  3. Confirm that reviewers receive the expected notification and can open the review page directly from it.
